The traditional islands of the Saronic Gulf , where time stands still but life is vibrant!
Hydra is a small, quiet island that is perfect for those who want to get away from it all. It is known for its lovely whitewashed houses and narrow streets. There are no cars on Hydra, so visitors must travel by foot or donkey.
Spetses is a bit larger than Hydra and has a more lively atmosphere. It is home to several beaches, restaurants, and bars. Spetses is also home to the Dias Museum of Naval History, which is worth a visit for naval history buffs.

Itinerary
( 7 days )
Your tourâs schedule in detail:
- Athens to Hydra
Morning transfer from your Athens hotel to the port of Piraeus for the hydrofoil hop to Hydra.
Make own way to your hotel [at the port you can engage, a porter with a cost, to carry your luggage and walk you to the hotel] - Hydra – day to explore
The âGrand Ladyâ of the Argosaronic Gulf, Hydra has been amphitheatrically developed around its port. The islandâs houses, cube-shaped with tiled roofs, sit together in a tightly knit formation.
Hydra is one of the most romantic destinations in Greece. Traditional stone mansions, narrow cobblestoned streets, secluded squares and above all the banning of cars and the use of around 500 donkeys as means of public transportation, explain the reason why Hydra preserved its distinctive atmosphere through the passage of time.
The endless partying on Hydra during the 60s, which generated worldwide fame for the island, may be long gone, but it still maintains a cosmopolitan aura. - Hydra – Day to explore
Do not forget! The only way to truly get to know Hydra is by exploring its cobbled paths or trails beyond the village, high up, all the way to the Prophet Elias (Profitis Ilias) monastery. Along the way, take a dip at Spilia and Ydroneta. Also board a little boat all the way to Bisti, the islandâs southernmost cove, and Aghios Nikolaos beach, located southwest, for good swimming. - Hydra to Spetses
Walk to the port for departure to your next destination: Spetses! Again, you will walk to your hotel - Spetses – Day to explore
Beautiful nature, perfect beaches, and a complex history â Spetses is an island that has all three. This was the first island from the Argosaronic Gulf to join Greeceâs 1821 independence revolution. In Spetses you will find the house – that is now a museum – and a lot of personal belongings of the Greek War of Independence heroine Laskarina Bouboulina. - Spetses – Day to explore
Explore the little alleys and look out for the charming black and white pebble mosaics which decorate house courtyards and focus on maritime themes such as frigates, mermaids, octopuses, billowing sails and anchors! - Return to Athens
Make own way to Spetses port for your return hydrofoil to Athens
