Athens for Art lovers
Itinerary( 3 days )
Your tour’s schedule in detail:
Arrive in Athens
Upon arrival in Athens, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Balance of the day is at leisure.
Athens - Art on the Underground and Overground [duration approx. 3 hours]
Did you know that you can visit an underground “museum” in Athens, featuring casts of the famous Parthenon sculptures, ancient amphorae, and funeral monuments, as well as some of the finest works of public art created by world-famous Greek artists?
These stations represent nodes of both transportation and enlightenment – where Greek culture past and present intersect for the appreciation of passersby.
Let’s visit together Syntagma, Acropolis and Syngrou-Fix subway stations before we end at the National Museum of Contemporary Art where its exhibition of the permanent collection includes 172 artworks created by 78 Greek and foreign artists.
Your afternoon is free to enjoy this vibrant city on your own pace. Wander in Plaka, the oldest district in Athens. It is also mentioned as "Gods' district”, with outstanding scenery. Scout the Monastiraki flea Market for everything from kitsch souvenirs to antique prints, second hand-vinyl and vintage army surplus.
For dinner, visit Lycavittos hill or one of the numerous roof top restaurants to enjoy the magnificent night view to the Acropolis.
Arrangements terminate with breakfast at the hotel and check out.
